Alsum Awards FFA Chapters Funds from Inaugural Tater Trot 5K
Friesland, Wisconsin —Alsum Farms & Produce hosted more than 100 runners, walkers and local FFA supporters for the inaugural Tater Trot 5K Run/Walk on October 28, 2017 at Alsum Farms & Produce in Friesland, Wis. The first year event raised more than $1,700 for Local FFA Chapters. This year’s FFA Chapters receiving the funds include: Randolph Cambria-Friesland, Waupun, Markesan, Pardeeville and Rio.
“Alsum Farms & Produce was elated to host the inaugural Tater Trot 5K to help support local FFA Chapters and provide a unique opportunity to learn about the nutritional and economic benefits of Wisconsin Potatoes,” says Alsum’s Nikki Jedlowski, Logistics Manager and Tater Trot 5K Event Coordinator. “Potatoes are a nutrient powerhouse and the Tater Trot 5K promotes the healthy, flavorful and fresh attributes of the spud targeting sports enthusiasts and athletes to fuel performance.”

The top 3 Female Individuals:
1. Laura Jackowski-Baggett, 21:11; 2. K. Pekarske, 24:24; 3. Amy Katsma, 25:57
The Kids Fun Run race included a dozen youngsters racing around the potato shed and participates also had the opportunity to meet and get their picture taken with Spudly, the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Mascot.
Next Year’s Alsum Tater Trot 5K will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018. For more than four decades, Alsum Farms & Produce has been a leading grower, packer and shipper of locally grown potatoes, onions and provider of fresh, quality produce.
